Welcome to the Mountain Safety Council

MSC is a national organisation promoting safety in outdoor activities. We facilitate the setting of standards, offer training, distribute resources and advocate publicly so that more people can discover and enjoy New Zealand's outdoors safely.

Avalanche Awareness 2010

ALASKA-AVALANCHE

Winter is here and MSC is gearing up for a bumper season by providing our world class Avalanche Awareness and Backcountry Safety Courses.

Search for courses visiting the Training page and search by category for "AVALANCHE". You can download our 2010 Avalanche Awareness and Backcountry Pamphlet from the online store.

By the way, Mountain Safety Council also run avalanche.net.nz which offers daily updates on avalanche risk around the country. So whether heading to the slopes or tramping in alpine conditions, check there first.
